Severe Storm Threat Today; Santorum Bill

Jason Samenow @ 7:36 AM

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has our area under a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms today. The main risk from these storms is damaging winds and hail.

The rest of this morning should remain cloudy with temperatures climbing to around 60. The sun may emerge briefly early this afternoon as a bit of a dry slot ahead of the cold front shifts eastward. This will allow temperatures to rise to between 65-70 and should destabilize the atmosphere. Storms should begin developing to our west between 1 and 3pm and affect our area between 3 and 6pm. Heavy rain, thunder and lightning are likely and as mentioned, there is the possibility of strong winds and hail.

Temperatures will plunge overnight -- into the 30s in the suburbs and low 40s downtown. Sunday will be unseasonably cold and breezy, with highs just 50-55 with a slight chance of showers. A snow advisory has been issued for the mountains.

Santorum Bill to eliminate weather services all over blogosphere...

The Santorum Bill that would privatize many of the National Weather Service's free products has captured the attention of a number of the net's high traffic sites.
