7pm update: Accumulating snow event on track....

Jason Samenow @ 7:02 PM

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING

Next update: ~1am Monday

My thinking laid out in the previous post has not significantly changed. I am still forecasting a moderate snowstorm for the DC area with accumulations of 2-4". However, I believe accumulations will be closer to 4" than 2" -- enough to shovel Tuesday morning. I've also adjusted snowfall probabilities and believe there is now only a 15% chance there will not be accumulating snow, and a slightly greater chance snowfall will exceed 3" (60%). Please see the graphics below for an updated accumulation map and snowfall probabilities.
