Strong to severe storms pass through northern parts of region

7:45 p.m.: The storms have passed. There were several reports of trees and wires down in Montgomery County.

6:05 p.m. update: Strong to severe storms are passing west to east mainly north of the Beltway through about 8 p.m. Some damaging wind gusts and hail are possible. A few showers and a weaker storm could linger area-wide later in the evening and overnight.
