Another Tuesday, another threat for stronger storms to develop. See the above graphic from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC), which gives our region a "slight" (2 out of 5) chance for severe storms.
Downpours Tuesday (graphic above) could also be heavy. The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) labels our region under a "marginal" (1 out of 5) chance of flooding.
Timing is still uncertain on Tuesday, but we could see more than one round of storms. To recap, the two main threats are damaging winds and flooding downpours.
Not only are the SPC and WPC watching Tuesday's ingredients, but both agencies are also flagging risks in the near term. See above for the marginal storm threat from high wind into tonight.
There's also a marginal chance for a flooding downpour into tonight (above) and tomorrow we could see one or two storms with damaging wind gusts (below).
Our severe storm expert, Prof. Jeffrey Halverson, is mainly eyeing Tuesday but does comment on the limitations of the threats into tonight and tomorrow:
"Because of inversion and poor lapses aloft, whatever CAPE can form will be small and there is not much forcing."
