As severe storms swept across parts of the region Tuesday, Scott Jacobson captured this mesmerizing drone footage, which he posted on X and granted Capital Weather permission to publish.
The timelapse video shows a storm cell approaching central Maryland in the late afternoon with billowing, swirling clouds and torrential rain spreading across the landscape. Much of the region was a under a tornado watch at the time, although the closest tornado confirmed thus far was on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay south of Easton, Md.
Tuesday's storms produced numerous reports of damaging winds across Northwest DC, Montgomery County, and northern Anne Arundel County. Dozens of trees were taken down across the region, some falling onto homes, and more than 300,000 customers lost power.
