Forecast in detail

Today (Sunday): Partly sunny as we heat for afternoon highs around 90 to 95, and a heat index peaking in the mid- to upper 90s. Winds from the south gust 15 to 20 mph at times. As a cold front approaches, at least scattered thunderstorms seem likely. Looks like these could develop anytime after 5 p.m. or so. Storms have potential for damaging winds. Hail and an isolated tornado are a risk, too. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Scattered strong storms remain a significant risk into the evening, especially before 10 p.m., with the threat continuing the latest from the Beltway and I-95 to the east. Scattered showers and a weaker storm could linger after that, before rain chances diminish after midnight. Skies remain mostly cloudy overnight with lows settling in the low to mid-60s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Monday): Noticeably cooler and beautiful with plenty of sun and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. A nice breeze from the northwest, around 10 to 15 mph, keeps the humidity low (dew points in the low 50s to upper 40s). Confidence: High 😎 Nice Day!

Tomorrow night: Skies turn partly cloudy but we'll stay dry. Lows fall to the upper 50s to low 60s as continued low humidity should make for a comfortable night. Confidence: Medium-High

A look ahead

Tuesday looks like another nice one. Highs should be in the upper 70s to low 80s again with partly to mostly sunny skies. Humidity remains in check with dew points in the 50s. Partly to mostly cloudy Tuesday night with an isolated shower possible and lows around 60 to 65. Confidence: Medium-High

Partly sunny and warmer Wednesday with highs in the mid-80s. Humidity is up a bit but still not bad (dew points near 60). Maybe an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Wednesday night lows fall back to the mid- to upper 60s. Confidence: Low-Medium

The heat surges back on Thursday with highs probably in the 90s. Shower and thunderstorm chances look to be higher, too. Confidence: Low-Medium
