Lower rain chances this week as temperatures climb
The current stationary front in our region is keeping us relatively cool and damp

As the stationary front draped over us moves away and dissipates tonight and tomorrow, rain chances decrease. Rain amounts forecast are fairly low this week as we turn hotter.

As you can see in our Forecast Lab, which is still on free public preview, the bulk of rain chances favor next weekend, when thunderstorm chances increase.

Drought remains in the region, especially south of town. We'll need to keep an eye on this as high levels of heat bake us (and the soil) this upcoming week.

Compared to normal, here's the percentage of rainfall received so far this year:

This aligns well with the northern half of the I-81 corridor, where drought has been the least severe recently.
