Today's weather had a twin exactly one year ago.

The forecast high for today is in the mid-70s; last year on this date, the high was 75.

Both June 2nds featured sunshine and low humidity.

Morning lows both years were unseasonably cool. This morning, they dipped from the mid-40s to the mid-50s around the region. Last year, they were even a hint cooler, ranging from 40 to 50.

One difference is that last year's skies were a bit hazy due to smoke from Canadian wildfires streaming southeastward. This year, skies are immaculately blue.

Similar weather patterns delivered this uncommonly pleasant early June weather. A dip in the jet stream over eastern North America ushered in dry, refreshing northerly breezes.

The surface weather maps from both years are uncannily similar, featuring Canadian high pressure north of DC and fronts positioned well to the south and west.

And, just like last year, that jet stream dip is about to lift away, allowing more summery weather to return later this week.
