Over a half-inch of rain (featured in the top graphic, above) for the luckiest folks who get downpours tonight! That's a silver lining to any strong storms that may roll through. More rain over the next week, too:

Note that the Weather Prediction Center (WPC) is a bit more bullish for rainfall than our local NWS office. Also visible over the next week is much of Virginia remaining dry. That's the toughest area for the ongoing drought:

Rainfall this time of year in our warm season is a patchwork thanks to our primary rainfall source: Hit-or-miss thunderstorms. A spot just a mile away from you could see vastly different conditions from one week to another.
