Friday evening storm updates
THE SITUATION: Isolated storms are roaming, mainly near I-66, DC, Route 50, and to the south. Storm chances look to be lower for the northern half of the region. Any storm could produce damaging wind gusts or some hail.
DC-area forecast: After another scorcher, chance of strong evening storms
HAPPENING NOW: DC reached 100 degrees Friday, breaking the record high for the date. A heat advisory is up into evening. A chance for strong to severe storms is focused on the southern half of the area.

Severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m.
Storms, capable of producing damaging winds, will probably be most numerous toward Virginia's Northern Neck and Southern Maryland.
