11:40 a.m. update: A flood warning has been issued in central and western Fairfax County until 2:30 p.m. Reston, Fairfax, Oakton, Vienna, Herndon, and Chantilly are among the locations included.

Flood watch until 2 p.m. for DC and parts of Northern Virginia
With a cell of heavy rain over central and eastern Fairfax County and drifting east toward DC, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for DC and parts of Northern Virginia until 2 p.m.
The watch covers DC, Fairfax County, Arlington, Falls Church, and Alexandria, and was issued due to the potential for rainfall to exceed 1 inch in less than two hours, which could cause flooding in poor drainage and urban areas.
A flood watch means the potential for flooding exists. A warning would be issued if flooding is occurring or imminent.
