Some scattered showers and thunderstorms are a decent bet if you are driving from the DC area to the Maryland or Delaware beaches late Friday afternoon or evening, and they could reach the beaches after 7 or 8 p.m.
The weekend itself at the beaches features an unsettled Saturday and a nicer Sunday.
Saturday: There could be a lull in shower activity during the morning into early afternoon despite plenty of clouds. Then a higher chance of scattered showers and storms returns midafternoon into evening. It's rather humid with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Winds are from the south and east around 10 mph. Saturday night lows dip to near 70.
Sunday: It's too soon to rule out a few showers and a storm on Sunday, but as of now any showers or storms look to be more isolated than Saturday. Otherwise partly to mostly cloudy and still pretty humid with highs in the mid-70s to near 80. Winds from the east should be near or less than 10 mph.
Water temperatures: They are currently in the low 70s. See a live map of regional water temperatures on our Weather Now page.
