DC-area forecast: Feeling more like July Tuesday before it's suddenly scorching

A look ahead

Wednesday and Thursday are the week's hottest days, with abundant sunshine and little if any chance of rain. Highs Wednesday reach 95 to 100, with an outside chance of challenging the record high of 102 (set in 2024). Thursday is a touch less hot, but highs could still reach the mid- to upper 90s. Humidity increases compared with earlier in the week but shouldn't become oppressive, with dew points in the upper 60s Wednesday and low to mid-60s Thursday. Overnight lows remain mostly in the 70s. Temperatures ease slightly Friday into the weekend while humidity remains moderately high, with dew points generally in the 60s. Highs should reach the low to mid-90s Friday before slipping into the upper 80s by Sunday. Afternoon and evening shower and thunderstorm chances return, especially Friday and Saturday.
