THE SITUATION: Showers and storms moved through the DC region this evening, causing some damage in the area of Burke and Fairfax. The main severe storm threat moved east of the Chesapeake Bay.
HAPPENING NOW: Maybe a stray shower this evening as temperatures fall through the 80s into the 70s. Some more showers could develop overnight, with lows about 65 to 70.
DC is getting a break from the heat, but 90-degree days are near record pace. With 13 so far, the city is tied for its third-most 90-plus days to this point in the season.
